Mammography

Mammography is considered the most effective tool for breast diagnoses. The procedure utilizes low doses of radiation to make images on X-ray film. The mammogram takes about 15 minutes and the entire visit lasts about 45 minutes. To obtain the sharpest image with the lowest possible radiation exposure, the breast must be flattened between the breast support and a compression plate for a few seconds. Most women feel little or no discomfort.
